Terms of Use

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the Anchor Launcher Android application ("App", "Service", "we", "us", or "our"), provided by HeliosBytes ("Developer"), you ("User" or "you") agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms").

If you do not agree to all of these Terms, you are prohibited from using the App and must uninstall it immediately. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Anchor Launcher.

2. Description of Application & Functional Scope

Anchor Launcher is a minimal, fast, and feature-rich Android home screen desktop replacement designed to enhance productivity, aesthetics, and digital wellbeing. Core functionality built into the App includes:

• Home Screen Desktop & App Drawer: Custom layout management, app folder creation, application drawer organization, and launching installed applications.
• Digital Wellbeing & Screen Time Limits: Local tracking of daily screen time, app launch counters, and reminder popups when user-configured usage thresholds are reached.
• Smart Search, Quick Dial & Voice Search: Unified search overlay supporting local app queries, web search shortcuts, contact search with quick dialing, and hands-free voice input via speech-to-text.
• Notification Badges & Indicators: Live monitoring of active unread notifications to display notification dots on launcher icons.
• Weather & Native System Widgets: Real-time local weather forecasts powered ephemerally by Open-Meteo API and hosting of native Android system widgets on the home screen.
• Built-In Local To-Do & Task Manager: Personal productivity task management and to-do lists stored locally on your device via an encrypted SQLite database.
• Wallpapers & Personalization: Custom wallpaper selection, dynamic Material You color palette generation, icon pack support, and custom haptic feedback settings.

3. License & Grant of Rights

Subject to your strict compliance with these Terms, we grant you a personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable limited license to install and execute Anchor Launcher strictly for personal, non-commercial purposes on compatible Android devices owned or controlled by you.

4. Device Permissions & System Integration

To function as your primary Android launcher, Anchor Launcher requires explicit system permissions (including QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES, PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS, Notification Listener, Contacts access, Location access, Audio recording, and System Widget binding).

By enabling these permissions, you grant Anchor Launcher authorization to interact with system APIs strictly to deliver the features described in our Privacy Policy. You retain the full right to revoke optional permissions at any time through Android System Settings, though doing so may disable specific features (such as live weather or contact quick dialing).

5. Digital Wellbeing & Personal Tools Disclaimer

Our Digital Wellbeing tools, screen time statistics, usage alert popups, and task management features are provided strictly as self-discipline and productivity assistance aids:

• All screen time records, app launch statistics, and to-do items are processed locally on your device.
• We do not guarantee or warrant that usage limit notifications will prevent access to third-party apps under extreme Android OEM power-saving, battery-optimization, or background-killing conditions.
• Anchor Launcher is not liable for missed system notifications, alarm delays, or device interruptions caused by third-party app settings or system-level restrictions.

6. Intellectual Property & Third-Party Marks

The Anchor Launcher application, including its original source code, user interface designs, custom iconography, graphics, and brand assets, is the exclusive property of Anchor Launcher and is protected by international copyright and intellectual property laws.

Third-Party Trademarks: All third-party application names, icons, brand marks, and software metadata displayed within Anchor Launcher belong exclusively to their respective trademark holders. Display of third-party icons in the app drawer does not imply sponsorship, endorsement, or affiliation.

7. User Restrictions & Acceptable Use

You agree that you will not, directly or indirectly:

• Modify, adapt, translate, copy, or create derivative works of Anchor Launcher.
• Decompile, reverse engineer, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of the binary application.
• Bypass, alter, or defeat any security controls, permission restrictions, or technical protections within the App or Android operating system.
• Use the App for any unlawful, fraudulent, malicious, or unauthorized purpose.
• Distribute, sell, lease, sublicense, or commercially exploit Anchor Launcher without explicit written consent.

8. Third-Party APIs & Services

Anchor Launcher integrates select external third-party services to deliver functionality (such as Open-Meteo API for weather forecasts, and Google Firebase for anonymized stability telemetry and crash diagnostics). Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party API availability or content accuracy.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties ("AS IS")

ANCHOR LAUNCHER IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMISSIBLE BY APPLICABLE LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, ACCURATE, OR FULLY COMPATIBLE WITH ALL CUSTOM AND OEM ANDROID OPERATING SYSTEM VARIATIONS, THIRD-PARTY WIDGETS, OR CUSTOM ICON PACKS.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL ANCHOR LAUNCHER, ITS DEVELOPERS, AFFILIATES, OR SUPPLIERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, DEVICE MALFUNCTION, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE APPLICATION.

11. Modifications to App & Terms

We reserve the right to update, modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature or component of Anchor Launcher at any time without prior notice. We may also revise these Terms periodically. Your continued use of the App following posted changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
